Stylish and Sustainable Fencing Enhances the Palisades Development

For Barrett Homes’ development The Palisades at Pāpāmoa Beach, fencing was more than just a perimeter feature—it was central to the project’s identity. The very name Palisades refers to a fence forming an enclosure, a theme reflected in the development’s design and logo.

Drawing inspiration from the coastal elements of Palm Springs, The Palisades is a premium development. Designed and constructed by Barrett Homes, the community features a well-integrated mix of modern townhouses, duplexes, and standalone homes across 57 lots. To complement the high standard of design, Urban Group was chosen to provide its expertise and premium fencing solutions, ensuring both style and sustainability throughout the development.

Collaborative Design for a Coastal Setting
Karl Bryant from Barrett Homes explains that selecting the right fencing was a key design decision. “The street-facing fencing needed to complement the stunning queen and fishtail palms planted by the developer while enhancing the overall aesthetic.”

For the prominent frontage, Paladin Aluminium fence panels in white were chosen. Their sleek, vertical fins provide a modern look while allowing greenery to grow through, offering both privacy and visual appeal. The premium quality of Paladin fencing was particularly important in a coastal environment.

Privacy and Acoustics
To address privacy and noise concerns, a high acoustic fence was installed along the southern boundary. To complement it, StabiFence was chosen for the internal boundaries, featuring aluminium posts and composite timber horizontal panels. “The natural timber texture contrasted beautifully with the plastered acoustic fence while complementing the homes’ woodgrain aluminium cladding,” says Karl.

Sustainability and Long-Term Performance
StabiFence, a composite made of 90 percent recycled material including wood fibres and plastic, is valued for its strength, durability, and ease of installation. Karl notes that being pre-finished, the fencing required no painting or ongoing maintenance, further enhancing its long-term performance and appeal.
