IFLA bursary for 2022 World Congress

The 58th International Federation of Landscape Architects’ IFLA World Congress is being held in South Korea from 31st August to 2nd September this year.

The federation is offering a limited number of travel bursaries to students (including those in Aotearoa) enrolled in an accredited landscape architecture programme or recent graduates (up to 5 years) to attend the Congress. You can find all the details you need to enter here.

The IFLA team says the world has witnessed rapid changes with the spread of the pandemic, technological revolution, and political conflicts. “We the professionals now have the mission to provide healthy, happy, and beautiful vision. For this, we will gather to discuss issues of landscape with the scale ranging from local to global.”

IFLA says through the Congress the federation aims to reclaim public leadership in landscape architecture.

“Through this event, we will reclaim public leadership in landscape architecture as we revisit professional and academic achievements to date, reshape the earth through emerging discourse and technologies, revive everyday lives to healthier and more vibrant ways, and finally reconnect to nature.”

Up to 2,500 (US$ or EURO) is available to cover the costs of transportation and accommodation. Applications close at the end of this month and the successful students or recent graduates will be notified in early June.

Just a note, if you receive the bursary, you must register for the Congress. Applicants will need to meet the criteria including setting a realistic budget and justifying their reasons for attending.

Applicants who are successful will be hosted at a special meeting during the congress where they will have the opportunity to meet the IFLA President and Executive members.
